Hal’s eyes would sparkle when they called him Gumpy! He loved his stepchildren dearly like his own. He had many special times with Katrina and her family.

He is also survived and will be missed by many nieces, nephews and their families and by the Goupil families and many co-workers and friends.

Hal lived practically all his life in Charlo on the Nichol homestead on Charlo River. He married the love of his life Jean Goupil. He was blessed with love of Jean’s children and grandchildren and siblings and families. Hal also had his pet dog Maggie who he so adored. Hal loved nature and he was a hard worker. He had a quiet kind spirit and was respected by many. He loved the woods ,fishing, hunting, and gardening. He enjoyed the beauty of where he lived on the River and he would share many videos of animals birds, river, and just nature in general. He was always in love with his piece of paradise on Charlo River. We all spent many celebrations with Hal and Jean at their home.

Hal loved Jean dearly and he enjoyed special trips with Jean and they would enjoy nature and quiet time together or just going for a drive. Family meant the world to Hal and he had a large extended family who loved him. He also adored his stepdaughter Judy.

He dedicated a great many years to Recreaplex where he was loved and respected by coworkers and patrons. Hal was easygoing and always willing to help. I Hal will also be missed by his special friend Joey Peterson who cared for Hal like a brother.

There will be a Commemorative Celebration held by his employer and coworkers in remembering Hal on Sunday April 21st at 3:00 pm at the Recreaplex in Dalhousie where Hal dedicated 35 years working. It will provide an opportunity for family and friends and coworkers to get together to celebrate Hal’s life. Your presence to attend this celebration would be greatly appreciated.

There will be a private family only service on May 25, 2024.

Hal was the baby of Nichol family and probably the quietest! He helped family whenever he could. He enjoyed special fishing trips with his brother Greg and nephew Steven Nichol. We all will miss Hal but we will hold special memories in our hearts! We are left behind but you will never be forgotten Hal!

By The River you lived and loved a kind and gracious life Hal! Now To The River you will go and live with The River of Life for eternity. Until we meet again! Rest in Peace! Xoxo
