Allan Driscoll Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Allan. He passed away suddenly but peacefully at the Bathurst Regional Hospital surrounded by family members on August 25, 2019 at the age of 90.

A sweet gentle man, Allan will always be remembered for his wonderful smile which he loved to flash anytime, anywhere! He always saw the good in everyone and made many life-long friends along the way. He was a miner his whole life and performed various jobs from drift miner to jumbo operator onto his last stint as a shaftman inspector. He retired from Brunswick Mining in 1991.

He was born in Sunnyside, NB to the late Abraham and Emma (Dempsey). He is survived by his two sons, Garry (Cindy) of Moncton, NB, Brian (Anne) of Bathurst, NB and two daughters, Donna Winton (David) Dalhousie, NB and June Riggs (Fraser) of Ottawa, ON.; nine grandchildren Julie LaPointe (Lee), Bryan Driscoll (Nathalie), Laura Galić (Mark), Bonnie Winton, Alexander Winton, Alysha Riggs, Cory Riggs, Christie Arseneau (Luc), and Robert Driscoll; seven great-grandchildren, Samson, Jasmine, Iris, Jackson, Emmy, Anthony and William.

Allan was predeceased by his wife, Mary Elizabeth (Furlotte) in January of 2013. He lived alone after his life-long partner departed, and in June, 2018, he moved to Ross Residence. The family would like to thank Rene, Tina, Lisa, and the entire staff for the excellent care that you provided to our father during his stay at your home. He loved being there and we knew he was well looked after and loved. He loved you all as well.

Allan is also survived by one brother, Merlyn (Joanne) and three sisters, Valerie Furlotte (Reginald), Juanita Furlotte (Allanson), and Ester Hachey (Lawrence). He was predeceased by his three brothers, Arthur, Maynard (Norma), and Wayne (Connie) as well as three sisters, Bernadette, Verna, and Melda.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Bathurst Regional Hospital and particularly the extraordinary care he received during his last final hours.

His funeral will be held at Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Jacquet River on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 11 am with visitation at MacMillan’s Funeral Home in Black Point Wednesday evening from 6-8.  For those wishing, donations in memory of Allan can be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
