Allison Blake Obituary

BLAKE, James Allison – 1924-2018.  After a full and wonderful life of 94 years we the family announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father, James Allison Blake on Sunday, September 2nd, 2018 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital surrounded by family.

Allison was a faithful member of the Chaleur United Church, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 77, Jacquet River and Masonic Lodge #32 of Campbellton.

Allison loved to work in the woods, was an avid sports lover, loved to play cards and visit friends; but most of all he loved his family and the times spent together playing music and telling stories

Allison left school in 1942 and joined the army reserve becoming part of the home guard that helped keep the shores safe during the war.  When the war was over Allison joined a construction company and worked on various sites around the province. In 1952, he retuned home to help on the family farm and found a job working for Gordon Beattie, driving truck.  It was while he was home in 1952 that he met the love of his life, Muriel Hamilton.

Allison had pride in his community and gave of his time by building a backyard rink that provided years of enjoyment for all the residents of the area.

His love of the woods and environment saw him dedicating the majority of his working life to a career with the Department of Natural Recourses as a Forest Ranger.

Allison is survived by his wife Muriel (Hamilton), daughters Joan (Michel), Vivian (Phil), Ina (Tony) and son Stewart (Dana);  grandchildren Marc (Vicky), Eric, Paul, Sean, Luke, Drew (Danielle), Jon Daniel (Nichole), Kayla (Matt), Daniel (Shannon), Hyla (Alex), Basil Blake (Sophie), great-grandchildren Lexie, Carlie, Léo, sister-in-law Alice Blake and several very special nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Alice (Murchie) Blake, brothers Bill, Preston, Stewart and infant sister.

The care and compassion received by the palliative care unit was exceptional and the family thank each one for the excellent care and respect shown to our father.  Special thanks to his home care worker Iva Hickey for her love and kindness to our father.

Visitation will take place at Bethel United Church on September 7th from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a service to celebrate his life on September 8th, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Bethel United Church in Nash Creek. Rev. Kent Gibbons officiating.
