Besides his loving wife of 47 years he leaves behind his four children: Ricky of Benjamin River, Gary (Peggy Roussie) of Campbellton, Debora (Jean) Laviolette of Bathurst and Troy (Treena) of Lorne, two stepchildren: Judy (Randy) McCormick of Beresford and John (Bernadette) Doucet of London, ON, his precious grandchildren Jason, Jamie, Meaghan, Jeffrey and Dominic as well as his adoring great-grandchildren, Cole and Emma.
He is also survived by two brothers: Everett of Mississauga, ON and Sherman of Saint John, N. B., three sisters: Jacqueline Godin of New Mills, Lucy Jenkins of Ontario and Marjorie Kidson of B.C. and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Leander was predeceased by his brothers Camille, Alphonse and Aurele.
Leander had been retired from Brunswick Mining and Smelting in Belledune for the past 17 years. In his earlier years Leander grew up working alongside his father as a fisherman, then moved on to delivery driver for Willet’s Groceries in Campbellton before ending up at the Smelter.
His love of playing guitar and singing was very well known to all who knew him. No gathering was complete without Leander and his guitar. Very little coaxing was needed to have him play.
To honour Leander’s wishes, there will be no immediate services. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Spring.
