Adeline Hickey Obituary

March 19th 1942 - April 10 2021

Adeline Isabel Hickey ( Beattie) , 79 passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with ALS.

Adeline grew up and went to school in Black Point ,N.B. She was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (McConnell) Beattie.

In May 26th of 1961 she married Malcolm , whom she was married to for 59 years . They raised three sons Billy, Donald and Bruce ( her favourite) . Many years later the  4th son showed up in Moms life ( the four legged kind ) Jake ,removing Bruce as the favourite and is said to get it all.
Having set the boys on a path , which had to be adjusted from time to time,  she began a career at Canada Post. She started out cleaning the post office and with hard work and determination she became Post Master.

Adeline’s  favourite spot had to be at the beach in Black Point, where she shared many great memories with friends and family. Many card games were played at the beach and to say she was competitive would be an understatement. Just ask her grandson Kirk as she schooled the young lad in cards when he was seven and never let him win.
Family was everything to Adeline , and she was everything to her family. She will be dearly missed .

Adeline is survived by her husband Mackey, her sons Bill ( Kim), Donald ( Kim) , Bruce ( Natalie.) And by her five Grandchildren Kristie (Chris) , Megan , Kirk, Ella,Mya, and Great Granddaughter Sadie
Her brothers Harold ( Shirley) , William and sister Sheila ( Trevor) . And very close family friend Edna Mallaley who also helped put the boys through school. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Jessie.

The family would like to thank  the many family and friends , Amy’s Home-care, especially Diane and Iva , Chaleur Regional Hospital Palliative Care team,
Dr. O’Connell and her wonderful support team at Stan Cassidy . Donations can be made to donor’s choice or ALS society or Stan Cassidy centre of Fredericton.
