Alexander Sonny Perry

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Alexander “Sonny” Perry. Sonny passed away in peace at the Campbellton Regional Hospital surrounded by many members of his family on November 07, 2022, he was 68 years old. Sonny was raised in Dalhousie and was the son of Angus and Theresa (Harquail) Perry. He is survived by his wife Charlene (Good), sons Shawn, Shane (Jessica Lanteigne) and daughter Tonya (Ian Clair), grandchildren Amy, Bryson, Molly, and Sawyer along with brothers Brian, Jamie, Eric, Donnie and sisters Cathy, Sandra, Gail, and Judy as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sonny was predeceased by his parents, son Christopher and sister Deborah. Sonny grew up in Dalhousie and was an employee of the paper mill for over thirty years, twenty of those serving with local 146 of the Communication Energy & Paper Workers union and as president for well over a decade. Sonny lived an incredibly filled life which made him well known, respected, and loved both near and far.  Sonny was proud to have been involved throughout his life in local sports as a player and as a coach, various levels of politics, many community issues and events, and countless people in need of assistance or guidance. Sonny was never shy to voice his opinion or concerns and was always ready and willing to champion a just cause or to assist anyone in need. He will be extremely missed but fondly remembered by his large extended family including family in Cape Breton, friends, and the Facebook community where he was able to reach out and connect with so many. Sonny and the family would like to thank the incredible staff of the Campbellton Regional Hospital for their kindness and care.  

A graveside service will be held at the New Mills Protestant Cemetery on November 14, 2022 at 11am. Arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
