The death of Allan Stirling Grimes occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on September 15th, 2023 at the age of 86. Born in Dalhousie, the son of the late Alfred and Bessie Grimes.
Allan married his beloved wife Marie on September 07, 1968 (55 years). He always could be seen accompanied with his favourite pet Muffins. One of his favourite pass times was working at home with his saw mill Allan was employed as a painter at the Dalhousie Paper Mill for 37 years and served in the Canadian army from 1953 until 1955. He also served the area in various capacities such as the LSD, president of the Benjamin River/New Mills Sports Association, volunteered at Our Lady of The Visitation Church and was on the management council and the graveyard committee as well as often helping out the C.W.L. serving tea and coffee. He and his brother Vance would always be seen together daily at the local Tim Hortons.
Allan is survived by his wife Marie; children Andy Grimes of Blackland, Tara Lee (Donald) McNeil of Blackland as well as his brothers Terry and Vance.
Besides his parents, Allan was predeceased by his brothers Delbert, Weldon, Stanley and Fred Cady.
A graveside service will be held at the Our Lady of Visitation Cemetery, Benjamin River on Monday September 25th, 2023 at 2pm, followed by a reception at Glenburnie Hall in Charlo . Arrangements are in the care of MaMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
