Allison LaPointe Obituary

Allison (Cook) LaPointe

September 1, 1940 – June 18, 2024

Allison (Cook) LaPointe passed away on June 18, 2024, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. He was born on September 1, 1940, and was predeceased by his mother Charlotte, father Harry, brother Donald, sister Betty, and stepson Glen Dempsey.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Henrietta (Simmy), and his children Dale (Theresa), Debbie, Roxanne (Dennis), David (Nadine), Darrel, and Maurice Hickey (Yolande). He is also survived by his stepchildren Danny (Martha) and Lisa (Rodney), as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on the LaPointe legacy.

Cook was passionate about playing pool and took great pride in his accomplishments in martial arts, specifically Jiu-jitsu. In his younger years, he was often seen with boxing gloves on, showcasing his love for the sport. Those who knew him will fondly remember his affection for Fords, especially his Blue Ford Fairlane 500 and the numerous Ford pickups he owned over the years.

After dedicating 35 years of his life to working at the Smelter in Belledune, Cook retired at the age of 60. His coworkers often knew that he would have preferred hunting over working at the Sinter plant. His love for hunting, shooting, and firearms was well-known among his friends and family. In his retirement, he enjoyed snowmobiling, riding on four-wheeler trails, spending time at his camp in Rocky Brook Cluster, and playing cards, where he preferred winning over losing.

Cook will be deeply missed by his family, relatives, and friends. He leaves behind cherished memories for all those who loved him.

Rest in peace, Mr. LaPointe. And that’s heavy on the Mister.

With love from Sticky, Sue, Sandy, Pocket, and Smiley.
