Anita Mary Rae

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Anita Rae on February 18, 2025. Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep, she was 88 years old. Anita was born in 1937 in Nelson Miramichi and lived most of her life in Dalhousie NB. Anita was a dedicated mother and professional teacher for many years here in Dalhousie NB. 

Mom’s nurturing spirit, unwavering support, and boundless love will forever live on in the hearts of our family. She is survived by sons Jeff / John Darrel / Jamie and Jayson as well as her daughter Jennifer and daughter in law Carmela Mazzone Rae including of course her loving grand children Logan and Jordan Rae. Mom’s greatest joy came from spending time with her family and friends, fostering an environment for entertainment and of course a drink or two. Her homemade chocolate chip cookies were legendary in the neighbourhood, and her Christmas spirit was eagerly anticipated by family and friends alike.

 Anita loved her years as a teacher for both the time educating students and for the time spent with her coworkers in the teacher’s room. Mom’s colleagues and friends will remember her as a resolute educator and as a woman who was never shy to voice an opinion. Mom was a dedicated church goer who devotedly attended services at the St John Bosco church here in town. Anita was renowned for strength of conviction, warmth, and caring personality. Mom had a generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, and always ready to engage in conversation with anyone she would meet while deeply loving her friends who will remember her as a women was always ready to share a drink and discuss anything at any time. Anita will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing our mother. 

Mom’s memory will be forever cherished by the Rae family, friends, and colleagues. Her legacy as a mother, teacher, and friend will endure, and Anita’s spirit will continue to inspire us all. In our hearts, Mom lives on, and we will forever honor the legacy of a remarkable woman who made a lasting impact on both our family and community. She will now be joining our Dad after 10 years apart. 

A funeral service to celebrate Mom’s life will be held at the Saint John Bosco, Dalhousie on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 11am, with a celebration of life to be held at 12pm downstairs at the Saint John Bosco, Dalhousie. The family would like to thank everyone for all their kind words, support, and food at this somber time and hope to see everyone this Summer for our last goodbye’s.
