Annette Marie Lapointe Obituary

With saddened hearts, the family of Annette Marie Lapointe (Gallen) announce the passing of their beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, cousin, and friend on December 14, 2022.  Born, January 1, 1937, she was blessed to have lived a long, full life just a few weeks shy of her 86th birthday.

Annette lived most of her life in her hometown of Benjamin River, NB, until recent years when she moved to Miramichi with Judy and Randy. She was so proud of the blended family that she built with her loving husband, Leander Lapointe. Nothing pleased her more than when she was able to brag of each of their respective children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren’s accomplishments. She created and maintained a special relationship with each, the memories of which will be cherished for generations to come.

Her and Leander also had a very active social life; participating in many sing-song get-togethers, card nights, and travelling during their retirement throughout New Brunswick and Ontario to visit their family and friends. She also enjoyed hobbies like quilting, jigsaw puzzling, and watching her favourite gameshows. We all know, had she the opportunity, she could have won big at the Wheel of Fortune! In recent years, she especially enjoyed learning new games such as Dominos and playing with wonderful family friends John and Margaret Glidden.  She also thoroughly enjoyed her three summers camping at Camping Miramichi with Judy, Randy and Buddy; becoming known as Great-Grammie to all who camped there.

She was never one to shy away from hard work from her time working at Rainers Lobster Factory when she was a young lady to the decades she dedicated to the Catholic Women’s Club. Her faith was fundamental to Annette’s life and even as the Benjamin River parish closed, and she was no longer able to attend in person, she continued to watch mass daily on TV. She prayed for all she knew and loved, every evening- we were so blessed.

Annette was pre-deceased by her parents, Charles and Louise Gallen; her beloved husband, Leander Lapointe; 15 brothers and sisters; and her grandsons, Jamie Lapointe and Randy McCormick. She is survived by her devoted daughter Judy (Randy) McCormick and son John (Bernadette) Doucet; her step-children: Ricky (Debra) Lapointe, Debora (Jean) Laviolette, Gary (Peggy) Lapointe, and Troy Lapointe; brother Donald (Cheryl) Gallen, grand children: Jason (Katie) Lapointe, Shannon (Jon) Olson, Meaghan Lapointe, Jeffrey Lapointe, and Dominic Laviolette; great-grandchildren: Cole Lapointe, Emilia Olson, and Emma Lapointe; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She will be forever in our hearts- God bless.

Her graveside service will be held at the Our Lady of Visitation Cemetery, Benjamin River on Saturday July 8th at 2pm. Arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
