Avelda Noel Obituary
In the quiet hours of the early evening on July 2nd, 2025 the world lost a light that had guided us for so long. Mom’s love and grace remain etched in every heart she touched.
Mom lived her life with quiet strength, a warm smile, and an open heart. Whether in her laughter echoing through family gatherings, or the comfort she gave with just a touch, her presence was a gentle kind of magic. She gave more than she ever asked for, always putting others first in the most selfless ways.
Marie Avelda (Furlotte) Noel, born September 6, 1934, in Restigouche County, was the daughter of the late Clarence Furlotte and the late Stella Page. Avelda passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital, surrounded by her family, on July 2nd, 2025. From those early days, her life was woven with love, resilience, and a deep connection to family—a thread that would remain unbroken throughout her years.
Avelda was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Noel, a dedicated railway man who spent his career with CN and VIA Rail. A proud Korean War veteran and longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kenny brought quiet strength and enduring commitment to all he did. He and Avelda shared a nearly 50-year marriage—one grounded in love, laughter, and unwavering partnership.
Avelda was also predeceased by her sister and dearest friend, Marie Driscoll; her kind brother-in-law, Allan; and her beloved baby brother, Vincent Furlotte, who passed away as a toddler at the age of two—A brief life, but one cherished and never forgotten.
The heart of her life was her family. Her children were her joy, and through them—and their children—her spirit lives on. She is lovingly remembered by her children, who carry her strength, kindness, and spirit in their own lives:
Linda (late Wayne Savoie); Brenda (late Erwin Donnelly); Nancy (Paul Guitard); Sandra (Shelby Daudlin); Kevin (Tina); Norma (Charles Brooks); and Rodney (partner Wendy MacIntosh).
Among her cherished grandchildren were: Nathan Savoie (Erika Marzinotto); Adam Donnelly (Kelsey); Grant Donnelly (Jessica); Benjamin Brooks; and Brianna Noel Preston (Ryan)—who all held a special place in her heart.
She was a proud great-grandmother to Olivia and Grayson (Adam’s children) and Ava and Liam (Grant’s children), who simply knew her as ‘Great Gram.’
A gifted homemaker in every sense, Avelda had a talent for turning the ordinary into something extraordinary. Her cooking and baking were legendary among family and friends—warm loaves of bread, flaky pies, and Sunday meals that brought everyone to the table. She took joy in homesteading and finding beauty in the rhythm of a well-tended home. But above all, she had a natural gift for caring for children—her own and the many others whose lives she touched with her gentle hands and patient heart.
In her later years, after Kenneth’s passing, Avelda embraced a new season of life with quiet grace and newfound independence. She found joy in the simple pleasures— spending time with her family, shopping trips, decorating her home with care, and living on her own independently. It was a chapter marked by self-discovery, quiet contentment, and new friendships. Her children took great joy in showering their beloved mother with love and appreciation—a reflection of the devotion and care they had always received in return.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 11th, at St. Gabriel Archangel Church, Jacquet River, NB, at 11:00 a.m.
