Charlotte Joncas Obituary

Charlotte Joncas

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of their beloved mother, Charlotte Theresa Joncas (Hickey) on March 5, 2020, at the age of 83 years.

Charlotte, the second youngest of 11 children, was born in Jacquet River on August 2, 1936, to Holton and Julia (Guitar) Hickey.

As the youngest daughter, she was always on hand to help her mom around the house and then when her siblings married and moved out, she was there to help them as well.

She spent her early years of marriage in Montreal raising her first 4 children.  The family then moved back to New Brunswick settling in Oromocto where the 2 youngest children were born.  After a number of years in the big town, the family moved back to Jacquet River to be with close family and friends.

When her children were older, Charlotte worked with special needs children and volunteer at the local food bank. She was always selfless and considered others first.

Charlotte was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed the company of her family.

She spent her last years living in Bathurst with her partner Raymond.  She enjoyed singing, dancing, and spending time with family and friends.  She loved any opportunity to sing her favorite songs and always had a song in her heart.

Anyone who knew Charlotte and loved her, knew her kind and gentle soul.  She has left behind a legacy of her love, tenderness and compassion.

Charlotte is survived by her partner Raymond Cormier, her sons Len (Donna) of Regina, SK, Glen of Hartington, ON, Wayne of Belledune, Lionel Jr. (Sylvie) of Nash Creek, her daughters Lisa (Allan) of Thunder Bay, ON, and Linda (Glen) of Bathurst, her grandchildren Jessica, Rebecka, Isabella, Kalyn, Tyler, Emily, Mychaela, Addison, Erika, Megan, Tyler, Rickella and Marianna, great-grandchildren Rylie, Ava, Carter and Hannah, her brothers Earl (Marianne) and Malcolm (Adeline) and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two infant sons, her sisters Myrtle, Barbara, Dorcas and Audrey, and her brothers Clarence, Marvin, Eldon and Patrick.

The family would like to thank their mother’s health care worker Ann for her attention and devotion to their mother.

Public visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at MacMillan’s Funeral Home.
