Claude Moriarty Obituary

Claude David Moriarty was born on February 2, 1938, in Belledune, NB, and was one of
eight children born to Walter Moriarty and Melvina (Hickey) Moriarty. Claude passed
away unexpectedly on December 22, 2020 at home with his family. He is survived by
his wife Veronica and children Claudia (Michael) Jones, Jane (Luc) Breton, Donnie
(Linda) Moriarty and Dean (Tanya) Moriarty. Claude is also survived by his siblings
Verna (Ken) Driscoll, Merlin (Evelina) Moriarty, Evelyn Lapointe, Joyce Poirier, Victor
(Glenda) Moriarty, Allan Moriarty and Monica Legacy.

Claude was predeceased by his beloved son David and his parents.

Claude was a genuinely kind man who took pleasure in the simple things in life. He was
easy going and got along with everyone in his community. He always had a smile and
loved to tease his family, especially his children. He was a great friend to all and will be
greatly missed. Claude loved music and enjoyed playing the harmonica. Thankfully, he
had one last jam session with his family and played with great enthusiasm.

Claude was a lifelong resident of Jacquet River but worked in Elliot Lake Mines and
Nigadoo Mines as a miner. He had other many professions throughout his life such as:
lobster fishing, surveying and lumberjack. He was a hard worker and was a dedicated
family man. His treasures in life were his children and grandchildren:
Blaine, Amber, Peris, Sierra, David, Jeannine, Melissa, Kathleen, Alyson, Gregory,
Evan, Nathan, Emma and Lily. And Great Grandchildren: Matthew, Fynn, Dean, Amy
and Hudson.

Claude took great pride and pleasure in coaching his boys hockey teams. He was both
a spectator and driver for many local hockey players. He loved every minute of his time
with his family and their friends during many hockey seasons. He was an avid wrestling
fan and was quite fond of the mule kick.

His greatest puzzle to solve was how much did his children weigh? He loved to ask
each of them whenever he saw them. Another great mystery was how he survived
nearly 60 years married to the love of his life, Veronica. They were due to celebrate
their 60th wedding anniversary on December 26th, 2020.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a service will be held at a later date. Claude’s family asks
that any donations be made to The Children’s Wish Foundation.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point.
