Delphis Joseph Lavigne
It is with heavy hearts and love that his family members announce the passing of our dad and husband, Delphis Lavigne. He passed away peacefully at Campbellton Regional Hospital on December 21st, 2019 at the age of 88. Born in Lorne, he was the son of the late Frank and Theresa (Carrier) Lavigne.
At a young age he worked as a lumberjack until 1957 when he got a job at the Gaspe Copper Mines in Murdochville, Quebec. In 1965, he moved back home with his family and worked at Brunswick Mining as a Labourer, Slusherman, Scramblaster, and as a Miner. He worked there until his retirement.
Delphis is survived by his wife Hazel; children Wayne (Terry) of Black Point, Diane MacLellan (Cameron) of Archibald, Darlene (Margo) of Fredericton, Rose Marie Smearer (Danny) of Archibald; grandchildren Travis, Mandy, Krystal, Cory, Johannes; great-granddaughter Penny Rose; as well as his brother Alex (Anna) and sisters Doris, Leona (Lionel), and Joyce (Antoine). He was predeceased by his brothers Norman, Leo and Murray.
His funeral will be held at St. Gabriel’s Church in Jacquet River on Monday, December 30th at 11:00 am with visitation at MacMillan’s Funeral Home Sunday evening from 6 until 8 pm. Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home Black Point.
