Donald Jude Elsliger
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Donald Elsliger announce his passing, which occurred at Foyer Notre-Dame-De-Lourdes on March 25th, 2021 at the age of 85 years old.
Born in Jacquet River, NB Don worked as a manager for NB Liquor for 37years. Don was the son of the late William and Julia Elsliger and is preceded in death by Sisters Stella, Geraldine, Charlotte, Freda, Helena, and Janice and brothers Austin, Alfred, Gerald, and Arnold. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Molly) Elsliger, his daughter Shelly (Wayne) of Toronto, Ontario, and son, David Elsliger (Robin) from London, Ontario, Sisters Ethel and Cynthia, and several nieces and nephews.
Donnie will be remembered for is strong work ethic, love of the outdoors and gardening, his love of animals, Sunday drives, and visiting the occasional flea market. Donnie had friends from all walks of life and was never short on jokes. In fact, his sense of humor remained with him right up until the end.
Donnie loved to sit at the kitchen table, in his favorite seat, and chat. He was grounded in his faith, always wanted the best for the village, never forgot an Easter Egg hunt, and loved coaching hockey for his brother-in-law Mark’s yearly tournament.
He loved his garden. It was his place of solitude. Many evenings, way past sunset, Donnie could be seen travelling back and forth making sure that everything was cared for and tended to.
Donnie will certainly be missed but his spirit will live on.
A graveside service will be held at the St Gabriel's Cemetery, Jacquet River on October 8th, 2021 at 2pm. Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillan's Funeral Home, Black Point.
Thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Chaleur Regional Hospital, the kind and attentive staff at Foyer Notre-Dame-De-Lourdes, as well as friends and family who provided support and help through this difficult time.
