Donald Harvey
(1937-2023)
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Harvey of Nash Creek at the age of 85.
Donald passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023 at the Villa Renaissance in Dalhousie, with his family by his side. He was the son of the late George and Margaret (Cook) Harvey.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 60 1/2 years Lorraine (Esliger) and their children Dana (Stewart), Craig (Karla), and Robin (Ken); Grandchildren Kayla (Matt), Daniel (Shannon), Ryan, Emily & Aidan; Step-granddaughter Tasha (Nick); great-grandchildren Lexie, Carlie, Brady, Asher and Addelyn; step-great grandchildren Ally and Landon; sisters Shirley (Paul) LaPointe, Helen Killoran; brother Lloyd (Betty) Harvey as well as several nieces and nephews.
Donald was predeceased by his son, David; his brothers Delbert, Leonard, Arnold, Bobby, Murray, Jackie and Wayne; his sisters Muriel, May, Daisy, Hazel, Viola and Marjorie.
Donald worked for 30 years at Brunswick Smelting as a security supervisor and was also a lobster fisherman for nearly 50 years. After his retirement, he enjoyed cutting firewood on his woodlot, afternoon naps and evenings spent hanging out with his buddies at the store. He loved to spend weekends at the rink watching his grandkids play hockey. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they kept him young and full of life.
Donald will be remembered by many for his big smile and contagious laugh.
A funeral service will be held at the Nash Creek United Church on Wednesday February 22, 2023 at 11am. Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
