Eileen R. Keays (Babin)
It is with great sadness the family of Eileen Rita (Babin) Keays announces her passing at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 04, 2023 at the age of 98. Eileen was born on March 19, 1925 to the late Alexander and Georgina (LaPointe) Babin in Charlo, New Brunswick.
When she was a teenager she moved to New Mills, N.B. where she remained for the rest of her long full life. Mom was an active member of the catholic woman’s league “Our Lady of the Visitation Church” Benjamin - New Mills and when it closed she never missed the daily mass on T.V. Some of Eileen’s hobbies was quilting (in the early days), card playing, knitting and jigsaw puzzles. The card playing would end with the loser vowing to get even on the returning match. I guess mom’s knitting was her favourite pass time, she knitted hundreds of baby hats and socks, which she gave to the hospital throughout the province, while some found their way to Ontario and Nova Scotia. I will always remember and cherish the nights we spent together making her favourite puzzles.
Eileen is survived by her children Nat and Marcel, brother James (Bernette) Babin, Winston (Ann) Babin, sisters Bernette (Babin) Newman and Sybil (Jack) Babin, grandson Jason and great-grandchildren Lily, Liam, and Eli.
Besides her parents and Husband Frank, Eileens was predeceased by her brothers Simon, Lionel, Gerald, Douglas, Romeo, Clement, sisters Florida, Arnolda, and Donalda.
A celebration of life will be held at the Macmillan & Drapeau Chapel on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 2pm.
Arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
