Emma - Jean Harvey

The death of Emma - Jean Harvey of Nash Creek, wife of John (Jack), occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on June 30, 2022 at the age of 83. Born in Bathurst July 31, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Inez (Ward) Hornibrook.

Emma - Jean worked at the Eddy Hardware in Bathurst as a bookkeeper before she was married. After her first child was born she then worked at the Eddy’s in Dalhousie. She looked back fondly on those days.

She took care of her many grandchildren. It was a full house for many years. She always made sure everyone had enough to eat. She was like a second mom to many of us. A selfless person.

She loved gardening and making preserves. Her strawberry patch fed so many of us. She took pride in harvesting.

She was an avid knitter. She volunteered her skills and knit small hats for the preemies and newborn babies at the hospital. Her kindness was unbounding.

She was devoted to God and went to church regularly. She taught Sunday school and played piano in church for years. She encouraged everyone to attend. She wanted the best for everyone around her.

She took care of her elderly mother in her home for many years. A wonderful example of love.

Her hugs and wise words of wisdom will be missed by all.

Emma - Jean is survived by her children Lorelei of Moncton, Wayne (Maria) of Nash Creek, Shane (Roxanne) of Nash Creek; 11 grandchildren, 4 pre-deceased Jonathan, Kyle, Candace, Jason, 8 great-grandchildren as well as her brother Sherwood (Sandra) and sister Wyona (Roy)

Besides her parents and husband John (Jack), Emma - Jean was predeceased by daughter Melody.

A graveside service in New Mills will be held at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
