Gary Archibald Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gary Archibald of Dalhousie on

Saturday, September 26th, 2020. Gary was born in Tide Head, the son of the late Earl

and Stella (Porter) Archibald. He was one of five boys, Gordon (deceased), Jack

(deceased), Leland (Oromocto) and Donald (Miramichi). He is survived by his wife

Kathy (Hynes) of Dalhousie, daughters Shannon (Sean Harris) of Gatineau and Jodie

(Carle Ensminger) of Halifax, grand-daughters Keara, Cameron, Maya and Fiona as

well as many nieces and nephews.

Much like the garden beds he tended to with care, Gary approached all elements of his

life with a caring devotion. His desire to better the community started when he studied

recreation and community development at Algonquin College in Ottawa and then moved

to Dalhousie in 1975, and continued until his passing. Gary devoted his life to the Town

of Dalhousie and its people. While he retired from his role with the Town in 2003, he

never stopped working to find ways to help the community, most recently as President

of Rotary and an active member of the Board of Recreaplex.

Gary was a very engaged individual and there was little in life that didn’t captivate his

interest. He was a kind and gentle soul who lived a full and happy life. He loved being

with his family and making new memories. Although his accomplishments were

considerable, his greatest pride was his two daughters. We have lost a good man, and we will miss him!

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the family will be having a celebration of life this summer when, hopefully, all friends and family can attend.

For those wishing to make memorials in memory of Gary, donations to the Diabetes Association and/or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
