Obituary

Glen Furlotte

April 10, 1957 – July 4, 2023

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Glen Furlotte, son of the late Justin Furlotte and the late Adeline LaPointe (Godin).

Glen is survived by his loving wife Jo-Ann, son Justin (Abigail), sister Debbie (Owen), brother Marc (Elizabeth), sister Angie (Ross), and step-father David. He was predeceased by his brother Todd.

There’s so much to say about Glen.

He loved to talk and could spark up a conversation with anyone. He was a great guy and touched so many lives.

Glen and Jo-Ann made a lot of great memories over their 37 years together, whether riding their motorbikes, boating (and getting stranded on Heron Island), camping, taking road trips, spending late nights by the fire, or visiting Justin & Abigail.

Glen had many hobbies and interests.

Glen loved being outdoors. He enjoyed going in the woods for a drive, whether to stop and cook a lunch, gather firewood, or shoot targets with his homemade bullets. He had a lot of great laughs with his best friend Devery on their camping trips in the woods.

Glen liked four-wheeling for several years. In recent years, he got back into snowmobiling and enjoyed long outings with friends.

Glen loved music and was a big fan of Springsteen, having seen him live several times. He took up playing guitar himself, and he and Owen entertained us in their two-man-band, “The Travelling Nobodies”.

He was also a great fan of the Bruins, and Bobby Orr was one of his idols.

Glen would make homemade beer and wine and even added a tap to his old fridge. Everyone also loved getting a bottle of Glen’s homemade pickles or his strawberry jam.

Glen was very clever at fixing anything that needed it. In fact, he recently got his antique BMW motorbike (“The Bumblebee”) running again! Driving motorbikes was Glen’s passion. He loved the open road. Glen often told the story of how he and his brother Marc decided one Sunday after church to drive across Canada on their motorbikes. It was the summer of ’77 and they made the 29 day trip with very little money in their pockets and a 3-man tent!

Glen made another road trip across Canada in 2021, this time to help his son Justin move to Vancouver to attend UBC. Together, they saw the Rockies, Lake Louise, and many different cities along the way. On the last night of their trip they rewarded themselves with one of Glen’s favourites – a steak dinner! Glen was so very proud of Justin and lit up when he spoke about him. He was thrilled when Justin got engaged to Abigail, found a job closer to home, and bought a house.

Glen (Luckel) was loved by everyone who knew him and will be dearly missed.

You are forever in our hearts, Glen.

A graveside service for Glen will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 11 am at the St. Maria Goretti Cemetery in Lorne, NB. with a reception to follow at the Nash Creek Heritage Center (the former St. Joseph Church). Arrangements are in the care of MacMillan & Drapeau Funeral Home, Black Point.
