Gordon Russell

August 8, 1943 ~ October 17, 2021 (age 78)



   With great sadness the family of Gordon Russell of Jacquet River, NB. announce his death which occurred at the Campbellton Regional Hospital, October 17, 2021 at the age of 78.

   Gordon leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years Gloria (Boone), as well as four boys; Peter (Mary), Henry (Elisabeth), Mark (Barbara) and Scott who Gordon always called Scottie. They all loved him dearly and are so proud of there dad. He also leaves behind his brothers Ralph (Sharon), Rival (Linda), Ian (Sonja), ten grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Mildred (Noel) Russell and siblings Henry, Gary, infant sister Inez and infant brother Roland.

   After finishing school, Gordon went to Fredericton, NB. where he worked at the Cotton Mill, then on to drive truck for the National Defence in Gagetown where he met his wife Gloria. They then moved to Jacquet River to work at Noranda Smelter and start a family. Gordon was employed at Noranda for 36 years until his retirement in 2003. He took great pride in his work always being the first man in to put coffee on for everyone. While still working at the Smelter, he became a volunteer firefighter. Many courses later, he had worked his way up to Deputy Chief of Station 1. Gordon had attended many meetings and took several courses improving his knowledge in the department. He spent many hours in schools teaching safety to children. He also was readily available to the community for traffic control for events. When he was needed, he was there. After retirement from the Fire Department, Gordon kept busy doing woodworking and crafts. When he made cabinets for his wife, he also ended up making some for her friend. Gordon will be greatly missed in our village. Rest in peace dad. You will be in our hearts forever.

   There will be no visitation or services at this time. Arrangements are in the care of MacMillan’s Funeral Home, Black Point.
