Hazel Annie Ilone McMillan (Hickey), born January 31, 1933, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at the age of 93 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. She was known for her quiet strength, her steady kindness, and her unwavering devotion to her family.
Hazel was the beloved daughter of the late William McMillan Sr. and the late Annie Pettigrew of Doyleville.
She is predeceased by her husband, Leonard Hickey, and two sons, Stewart and Douglas Hickey, as well as her siblings Ida, Alex, Opal, Billy, Kenny and Norman.
Hazel leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her children Wayne (Dale), Adrian, Diane, Bobby (Yolanda), and Dawn; her grandchildren Jeffrey, Jody, Danny, Scott, Shawn, Shane, Jeremy, April, and Megan; and her great-grandchildren Drake, Miah, Kendra, Shane, Kaleb, Jade, Taylor, Samuel, Benjamin, Melodie, Archer, and Rowan. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Hazel’s life was not defined by grand gestures, but by the countless small ones; the ones that build a family, strengthen a community, and leave a lasting imprint on the hearts of others. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
Throughout her life, Hazel was known for her gentle nature, her resilience, and her deep commitment to those she loved. She approached life with humility and grace, finding joy in simple moments and strength in her faith and family. Her legacy is one of love, perseverance, and quiet dignity.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with those who went before her, and is now in the arms of her Saviour.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the 3rd floor staff at the Campbellton Regional Hospital for their kindness, compassion and respect toward their mother.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 20th, 2026 from 2:00 p.m to 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Bethel United Church (Chaleur) Nash Creek. A funeral service will be held at the Bethel United Church (Chaleur) in Nash Creek on Tuesday, July 21st, 2026 at 11:00 a.m.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillan and Drapeau Funeral Home, Black Point.
