He is predeceased by his wife June (2004) and his daughter Janie (2019), John was also a cherished grandfather (Gampy) to Leah, Keith, Trish, Courtney, Lola, Michael, Kala, Jared, Jenna and Lexi . Each of whom brought him immense joy. Great grand father to Cameron, Hunter, Matthew, Ally, Jack, Nathan, Emma, Margot, Regan, Sophie, and Great Great grandfather to Layla.
A lumberjack for his entire working life, John was known for his unwavering work ethic. The forest was his second home, and he believed deeply in the value of honest labour and providing for his family. He was also a member of the Lorne volunteer fire department for 25 years.
John had a great sense of humour and was known for his quick wit and was always ready with a good (or bad ) joke and loved joking around. His 3 year old granddaughter Kala wanted a kitten. So he told her kittens come from Pussy Willows. So off they went to cut some Pussy Willows, took them home , put the Pussy willows in a glass jar and Kala she believed. Every day Kala would check the glass jar hoping to find a kitten. His humour and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
John will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, Hardworking lumberjack, and a man who lived simply, worked hard and laughed often, (mostly at his own jokes. ) His passing has a left a profound void, but his memory will live on through his children and grandchildren.
Thank you to his neighbour Joe Mallaley, who always checked in to see if John needed anything, helped shovel his driveway or needed a helping hand. His special friends Allen Mallaley and Durbin Esliger.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his Caregivers , Jody and Carol, For the care, kindness and compassion you showed our father. Your patience, dedication and genuine concern meant so much to the family.
