Laurent “ Petome” Fontaine 

C’est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Laurent “Petome” Fontaine, de Saint-Maure, survenu le 8 mai 2026 à l’âge de soixante-quatorze ans. Né à Saint-Maure, il etait le fils de feu Antoine Fontaine et de feu Thérèse Cormier. 

Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Simone, ses enfants Annick (Andrew), Véronic (Elvis), Richard (Amy), Maxime et ses petits-enfants Liam, Nathan, Kingston et McKenzie, ainsi que ses frères, soeurs, beaux–frères, belles–soeurs, neveux, nièces, parenté et amis.

Reconnu pour sa grande générosité, Laurent était toujours prêt à tendre la main à sa famille, amis, voisins et même aux inconnus. Que ce soit par son temps, ses conseils ou de simples gestes de bonté, il donnait sans rien attendre en retour. Sa chaleur humaine et sa compassion ont marqué tous ceux qui ont eu la chance de le connaître.  Il avait un grand sens du devoir et un éthique du travail exemplaire.   

Par-dessus tout, Laurent aimait profondément sa famille. Il était un mari dévoué, un père attentionné et un grand-père fier qui chérissait chaque moment passé avec ses enfants et ses petits-enfants. Sa famille était au centre de sa vie, et son amour pour elle était constant et inconditionnel.

Il laisse derrière lui un héritage de travail acharné, de générosité et d’amour qui continuera de vivre dans le cœur de tous ceux qui l’ont connu. Bien qu’il nous manque énormément, son souvenir demeurera à jamais une source de force et de réconfort pour sa famille et ses amis.

Les funérailles auront lieu en église Saint Benoît de Balmoral, le lundi 1er juin à 11h00. Les arrangements funéraires ont été confiés au soin du salon Funéraire MacMillan & Drapeau.

Laurent "Petome" Fontaine 

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Laurent “Petome” Fontaine of Saint-Maure, who passed away on May 8, 2026, at the age of seventy-four. Born in Saint-Maure, he was the son of the late Antoine Fontaine and the late Thérèse Cormier.

He leaves to mourn his wife Simone; his children Annick (Andrew), Véronic (Elvis), Richard (Amy), and Maxime; and his grandchildren Liam, Nathan, Kingston, and McKenzie, as well as his brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.

Known for his great generosity, Laurent was always ready to lend a helping hand to his family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers. Whether through his time, advice, or simple acts of kindness, he gave without expecting anything in return. His warmth and compassion touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a strong sense of duty and an exemplary work ethic.

Above all, Laurent deeply loved his family. He was a devoted husband, a caring father, and a proud grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. His family was at the center of his life, and his love for them was constant and unconditional.

He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Although he will be greatly missed, his memory will forever remain a source of strength and comfort to his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at Saint Benoît Church in Balmoral on Monday, June 1, at 11:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of MacMillan & Drapeau Funeral Home.
