Leona Joan Cady

The family of Leona Cady very sadly announces her passing. Born in Lorne, she was the daughter of the late Ella Carrier and the late Francis Godin, and was the wife of the late Arsene Hickey in her 1st marriage and the late Fred Cady in her second marriage. 

She was predeceased by her siblings George, Livio, and Rita, as well as Louis Carrier and Geraldine Gagnon. She is survived by siblings Kenneth (Shirley), Ivan (Sandra), Preston (Suzanne), Susan Ines (Eric), as well as her children Maurice (Yolande), Evelyne (Rickey), Francis (Sarah), grandchildren Nicholas, Brad, Steven, Lacey, Shy-Anne, and predeceased by her grandson Maurice "Junior" Hickey. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, Marissa, Hailey, Olivia, Orion, Charlie, Noah, Allie-Rose, Summer.

Although named Leona, we all knew her as Joan. Joan had a heart of gold as big as can be. She loved her games of cards, and good luck trying to keep her away from the bingo. A good lunch and running the roads were always time well spent for Joan. She was a good-hearted person who enriched the lives of all around her and she will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held at the Lorne Community Hall on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 2pm. Funeral arangements are in the care of MacMillan & Drapeau Funeral Home, Black Point.
