It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Marcel “Tubber” LeBlanc of Eel River Crossing.
Marcel was born in Dalhousie, the son of Albertine (Nadeau) and the late Daniel LeBlanc.
Marcel worked for the Town of Dalhousie for 40 years and loved his job. You'd see him out plowing the streets night and day. After retirement most people would be taking the time to relax, but not this guy. He took on an adventure to head to Western Canada where he drove bus for those working away and bringing them to and from camp. He did a rotation of a couple weeks working to then return home to his family for a week or two.
He enjoyed the adventure and meeting new people.
From an early age he had a passion for sports. And devoted himself to the sport of hockey, among other sports for over 50 years. He gave so much of himself to this community in the form of Coach and mentor. If he wasn't in the rink, he was at the ball diamond. You could also see him on a bowling lane or even out fishing, summer and winter, with buddies. What he gave back to the kids in this community was what he was born to do. Whether it was picking you up for practise or a game, he didn't mind at all or volunteering at an event. He was happy to help out a friend in need at a drop of a dime, you always knew you could count on "Tubber". His heart was so full when he was on that bench, he was glowing. He lived for the game of hockey and it showed!
He loved his family, his kids, his grandchildren, sister, brothers and parents. Always the first one to show up at any family gathering and the last one to leave. Always the life of the party. He loved to dance and had some pretty epic dance moves, his kids would certainly attest to that.
What we lost was something we will never get back, a true warrior for his people, a coach, a mentor, a friend, a husband, a brother, a son, a Father. He will be missed forever and we hope his name and legacy will stay alive forever in our hearts.
Marcel is survived by his wife Karen; daughters Tanya LeBlanc (Kevin Hickey) of Dalhousie and Kelly MacGarvie (Gilles Corriveau) of Dalhousie; son Jean Claude (Kendra MacDonald) of Dalhousie; mother Albertine; grandchildren Delilah, Clarisse, Brayden, Hayley, Madyson and Mialine; siblings Roger (Lise), Denise (Gerald) and Denis (Lynn) as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Marcel was predeceased by his father Dan and sister Aliette.
A funeral service for Marcel will be held on Friday, August 16 at 11 am at the St. John Bosco Church, Dalhousie, with a Celebration of Life to be held at the Archibald room of the Dalhousie Recreaplex following the funeral service. Funeral arrangements are in the care of MacMillan Drapeau Funeral Home, Black Point.
