René Edmond Montpetit

René Edmond Montpetit, 80, of Dorval, Quebec, who resided in Campbellton, New Brunswick, peacefully passed away on May 17, 2025, at the Campbellton Regional Hospital after a quick but courageous battle with cancer.

René was born on August 5, 1944, in Leamington Spa, England, to Camille Montpetit and Stella Welchman Montpetit.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gael; his sons, Shawn Andrew Montpetit (wife Tiffany Wale Montpetit) and Bryan René Montpetit; and his treasured grandchildren, Sarah and Carson (children of Shawn and Tiffany), and Theo (son of Bryan). He also leaves behind his sister, Judy Montpetit Bently.

Additionally he leaves behind a brother-in-law and a sister in-law and many nieces and nephews that were dear to him.

René was a man of immeasurable presence, a helping nature and a generous heart.

As per his wishes, there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, donations in René’s name can be made to a charity of your choice.

He will be missed fiercely and remembered fondly.
