It is with broken hearts that the family and extended family announce the passing of Robert James Stewart, which occurred at the Chaleur Regional Hospital on July 6, 2022 at the age of 60. He was the son of James and Jean (Hamilton) Stewart.
Robert is survived by his best friend and wife of 38 years Sherry (Pettigrew) Stewart, his children Timothy (Dana), Katrina (Josh), Amanda (Evan) and his cherished grandchildren Nora, Hope, John, Mimiges, Larry, Gavin and Cole. He is lovingly remembered by his Mother Jean, brothers Charles (Joyce) and Troy, sister in law Shelly, nieces Cortney and Amelia, nephew Jayden, aunts Patsy Brown, Joyce Nichol, Dorothy Stewart, Barb Stewart, Eva Stewart and Katherine (Gilbert) Marcoux, uncle Robert (Bernice) Ault and many wonderful cousins.
He was predeceased by his Sunset Baby Jonathan, Father James Stewart, In-laws Chester and Joyce Pettigrew and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins that meant the world to him.
Robbie had many interests throughout his life. Cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles, music, singing (he sang at many weddings and events). He loved star gazing (this was our first date). He loved making pizzas (he had his own pizza oven). He enjoyed baking bread and cookies especially for the holidays which he loved. He loved children and would do anything for them (he would leave the rock quarry and go to the kindergarten classes and read in his many character voices). But most of all he was so proud to be a PePaw and loved his grandchildren. Robert started as a teenager working in the family business C.M. Stewart Co. Ltd. He worked many positions within the company ending with owner after his Dad’s retirement. Due to the economy Robert had to close the company and make a career change. Robert became a real estate salesperson in 2004. In addition to helping thousands of clients buy and sell their homes over the years, he also served on the board of directors for the local real estate board in Northern New Brunswick, including presiding as president and leading the transformation of member services to the Northern Region. He went on to serve as president of the New Brunswick Real Estate Association (NBREA). Robert served numerous times as a committee member or chair for over 12 years at NBREA. Throughout his career in real estate, he actively participated in many industry committees, donating countless volunteer hours. His humble, service-driven approach to leadership made him tremendously respected by his peers. Robert was presented with the prestigious Dave Hawkins Award from the New Brunswick Real Estate Association earlier this year for his incredible dedication to his profession. He was a board member, vice president and president of the Dalhousie Business Improvement Area Corporation. He also was a board member of the New Brunswick Construction Association. Robbie was a board member and a true friend to everyone at the Haven of Hope. He spent many hours running errands, moving equipment and making sure everyone had what they needed for the Workshop to be a safe and happy place.
For those who wish, donations can be made to the Haven of Hope in Robbie’s name to help the Workshop with activities and programs.
