Sadie Thomas Obituary

Our family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Sadie (Hickey) Thomas at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. Surrounded by the love of her family, she left this earth on Saturday, September 13th, 2025. Sadie was 80 years old. She was born in Nash Creek, NB on July 18th, 1945. She was the daughter of the late Mary (Carrier) Hickey and the late Napoleon Hickey of Nash Creek. Besides her parents Sadie is predeceased by her siblings: Larence, Clarence, Stephen, Percy, Robert, George, Emmeline, Napoleon (Paul), Henry, Rosella, and Evelyn.

Sadie is survived by her brothers and sister, Ernest Hickey (Olga) of Saskatchewan, Russell Hickey of Blackstock Ontario, Andy Hickey (Barbara), and Florence Larson of NB. Her loving husband of 62 years, Frank Thomas, and their three children: Steven Thomas, Catherine Thomas, and Christopher Thomas. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren Andrew Thomas, Lauren Thomas, Travis Thomas, Shane Thomas, Steven Thomas, Hailey Thomas and Allie (Alexandria) Thomas and her great grandchildren Liliana Thomas, Richard Thomas and Allo Thomas.

Throughout her life Sadie worked various jobs. She worked in a chocolate factory, and at the post office. She was a security guard, a cashier in a grocery store, she owned and operated a convenience store from her home. Sadie held many jobs in life, but if you asked her, she’d tell you that her most important and fulfilling job, was being a wife and a mother. Sadie loved her family immeasurably and she was wholeheartedly dedicated to loving them. Her influence on all of us is immeasurable. Her home was known for being open to any family or friend in need of a place to stay, or a helping hand. She was very comfortable in the kitchen and her grandchildren share fond memories of baking cookies with her and picking wild berries to make jams. Sadie pursued many interests with her friends such as sewing, knitting, gardening, macrame, bowling with her husband and teammates. These were just some of the ways she shared her life and showed her love.

Sadie had to many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws to mention by name, she was surrounded by a large family and plenty of love.

She has left us with many wonderful memories of being well and deeply loved. You are forever in our hearts and we will all carry your memory with us every day. We love you very much, may your soul be embraced by light, and may you find the love, joy, and calm that you gave so freely in this life. You are deeply missed, but we trust that you are finally at peace, surrounded by grace. Rest in peace.

A funeral service will be held at the St Gabriel’s Church, Jacquet River, on Thursday September 18th, 2025, at 2pm.
