Veta Smearer (nee Murphy) passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Moncton Hospital on Sunday, July 25th, 2021.
- Born and raised in Lorne , she lived most of her life in Black Point, then moved to Moncton to be near her daughters. She devoted her life to being a homemaker and mother.
- She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Martin, 2 daughters: Lisa Beers and Lori Given, both of Dieppe, and one grandson, Justin Beers of Moncton.
- She will be sadly missed by her sisters: Elsie, Linda, Debbie and Peggy and was predeceased by her sister Alma. She will be remembered fondly by her many sisters and brothers in law., neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
- Veta's final years were anything but easy as she battled dementia and Parkinsons disease. She was robbed of quality of life and struggled daily. She is finally at peace.
Special thanks to the management and staff at The Briarlea on Ryan for the wonderful care and concern shown to Veta over the last year. Her life was made better because of you.
Also, a huge thank you to the amazing staff of the Palliative Care Unit, 3600 and the Emergency Dept staff of the Moncton Hospital. No words can express the exceptional care shown to Veta and her family during her final days. Your attention and support to all of our needs will never be forgotten. There are truly angels among us and they wears scrubs!

There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held on Friday August 6, 2021 at 2pm at the MacMillan & Drapeau Chapel.
