William R. Carrier
October 25, 1923 – May 23, 2024
It is with profound sadness that the family of William Carrier, of Lorne, announce his passing at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on May 23, 2024 at the age of 100 years and 7 months. Surrounded by his loving family in his final moments, he was a man of immense humour and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones.
William, fondly known as Papa or Booboo, was the loving husband of Zita (Hickey) for 79 years. He was a devoted and caring father to his son Donald (Therese), daughters Teeny Zinke and Cathy (Frank) Guitard, and daughter-in-law Peggy Carrier. He was a proud and doting grandfather to Ronnie (Gail) Zinke, Kendra (Chris) Stiles, and Keith (Heidi) Guitard and great-grandfather to Anna & Laura Zinke, Michaela & Samantha Guitard, and Sydney Stiles. He was also a loving father figure to his niece Patsy Hickey.
William was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Merella (Godin), his son Wade and two infant sons (Joseph & Ronnie), son-in-law Heinz Zinke, daughter-in-law Teeny Carrier, five brothers (Adolphe, Elric, Ozzie, Manuel and Jack) and two sisters (Evangeline and Cecile).
A Veteran of World War II , William was a man of few words (mostly reserved for funny remarks or giving people nicknames), a well-respected member of the community, and a lover of country music and Ford trucks. He had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be missed. He was an incredibly hard worker, starting to work in the woods with his father and older brothers at only eight years old. He spent many years working in the woods providing for his family and retired from the Smelter after more than 20 years.
A pillar of strength and a beacon of love, his absence leaves a void in our hearts. Papa, we were all so blessed to have you in our lives, we will miss you always!
To honour William’s memory, a service will be held at the Lorne Hall, on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.
